The Risk I Have To Take

“There is a risk you cannot afford to take and there is the risk you cannot afford not to take.” ~ Peter Drucker

Is there something you know God called you to do but you are hesitating because you think it is too risky?

Sometimes, we don’t take a risk and step into a new opportunity or take a step of faith toward our calling because we look at what exists and decide it is not the right time. We tell ourselves that we will do it in the future when we are more financially secure, have more “free” time, when our kids are older, or some other very logical reason. Oftentimes those reasons mask our fear of failure and/or potential embarrassment of starting something we can’t finish. We tell ourselves these things because believe we will have more time.

But tomorrow is not guaranteed to any of us. James wrote:

“Look here, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.” How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.” (James 4:13, 14 NLT)

Only God knows how much time we have. He knows what He asked us to do and He knows our current circumstances. He created us with the capacity to do it and He will supply the resources. So, stop hesitating. Take the risk.
