Changing The World

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” ~ Margaret Mead

During our Children of Inmates, Inc. (COI) March 2016 Bonding Visits, I met photojournalist Isadora Kosofsky. She had flown in from Los Angeles to travel with our team across the State of Florida to document the experiences of COI children and their incarcerated parents. Isadora is soft-spoken and petite, but her photos and narrative of her journey with us are riveting.

On Tuesday, TIME Magazine published a portion of her work in an article entitled, “The Intersection of Love and Loss: Children of Incarcerated Parents.” Please take a few minutes to read the full article by clicking this link: “The Intersection of Love and Loss: Children of Incarcerated Parents”

I have read the article and scrolled through the photos multiple times. I cry every time I read it. Her words and photos compassionately chronicle COI Bonding Visits and the flood of emotions that flow through the families, staff, and volunteers. The photos reveal children and parents I know and care about. I am reminded why we started this work ten years ago.

Thank you, Isadora.
