Precious Prayers

A dear friend gave me a prayer book that I have been writing down “short-hand” prayer notes in for seven years. There are scribbled notes on every page and little handwritten notes on slips of paper in between many of the pages. The binding has begun to separate from the pages, so I use duct tape and rubber bands to hold it all together. I take it with me everywhere. It’s traveled in my suitcase around the world.

A few days ago, I was looking through all of those handwritten notes and realized that seven years had passed. Situations that were desperate prayer requests over the years had been transformed into miracle answers. I was reminded of the scriptures written by the Apostle John in the Book of Revelations:

“Another angel came and stood at the altar, holding a golden censer; and much incense was given to him, so that he might add it to the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, went up before God out of the angel’s hand.” (‭Revelation‬ ‭8‬:‭3-4‬ NASB)

God had gathered up my prayers and answered with miracles. I decided that morning that I needed to step back and just thank God for answered prayers and for prayers that were still under His consideration. Answers were on the way.

Do you keep a prayer journal?

“Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.” (Revelations 5:8 NKJV)
