The Momentum of a Big Idea

“She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.” Proverbs‬ ‭31:16-17‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Trinity Church’s Girlfriends 2016 Conference is one week away. I can barely contain my excitement! This year’s conference theme “I AM HER” resonates with what I am involved with in Cambodia. If you have been reading my blog posts over the last few years, you know that I have been heavily involved in what has become a long-term community development project in Cambodia. The Cambodia mission teams I’ve led over the last two years have assisted Cambodian Care Ministries in acquiring a property in the Kratie Province. This property will soon be the site of a church, a medical clinic, and an Eco-Farm. The momentum is building around this Big Idea! Here is a photo of the half-acre site from our August 2015 trip:

Over the last few weeks, the site has been prepared for construction and the implementation of the Eco-Farm.

A second property was “gifted” to Cambodian Care through a no-cost, long-term lease from the village community members. This one and a half acre property will be the location of Cambodian Care’s Light of Future School #3. This week, workmen broke ground on the site. The school building is scheduled to be operational in April 2016! This is how the school site looked when we arrived in August 2015:

Currently, the children are attending school in shifts in buildings around the community, as shown below:

I am looking forward to seeing the children in their new school building!

During the conference, I will be presenting a more in-depth report on what is currently happening in Cambodia with these projects, what role(s) our 2016 Cambodia Mission Team will play in further implementation, and how our community garden demonstration project at Trinity Church will add value to the Cambodia Eco-Farm project. In addition, I am convening a panel of experienced community development professionals from MAP International, She Rescue Home, His House Children’s Home, and the City of Miami Gardens during the conference. The panelists will provide conference attendees with an understanding of community development and how they can be involved in community development at home and around the world. Look at what God is doing!
