This weekend, January 13 and 14, 2023, Trinity Church will convene its 15th Anniversary Girlfriends Conference! The theme of the conference is DISCOVER PURPOSE.   I am excited to be hosting a wellness and mindful movement session I titled “My Body, My Friend.”  Our body and our breath are with us every day, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for as long as we live. Without our bodies and our breath, we cannot fulfill our purpose in life. Too often, I have talked to women who are struggling to accept the beauty of their existence and who compare themselves and their bodies to others or to what their culture defines as beautiful.

During the “My Body, My Friend” session, I will be joined by my friends Dilcia Muñoz-Billman and Jeanette Muñoz-Styron, founders of the non-profit organization FitSisters of Miami. As the FitSisters of Miami, Dilcia and Jeanette have taught fitness classes to hundreds of people across Miami-Dade County, Florida.

Together, we will talk briefly about body awareness, appreciating our bodies, how to care for our bodies, and we will lead the audience in a brief set of mindful movements to bring awareness and energy to every area of their bodies.

We will end our session by reading this affirmation poem I wrote especially for the 15th Annual Girlfriends Conference!

HERE I AM
