Embracing New Ideas

“Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.” ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

This week, our Cambodia 2016 Mission Team had the pleasure of hosting Pastor Koy Chhim, founder of Cambodian Care Ministries, for three days in Miami, Florida. We had time to discuss our plans to establish a Goat Bank on the Cambodian Care site in Kratie Province. We discussed a future biogas digester using goat and human waste and other farming ideas as we toured our fledgling Trinity Church Urban Garden.

A goat bank is not a novel idea, but it is a great idea for Cambodian Care. Families whose children attend Light of Future School in Kratie Province will be selected and trained to receive goats from the bank. As their goats begin to reproduce, they will be required to give one baby goat – a kid – back to the bank. This will enable the Cambodian Care Goat Bank to continue operations. Over time, more families will be trained to participate.

The initial set of goats will be purchased with funds raised from Trinity Church’s Girlfriends Ministry and Children of Inmates program participants.

I’m really getting excited about our August 2016 mission trip and purchasing goats for the goat bank!

Do you have a great idea that you need to bring to life to this year?

  • A GOAT BANK! I love that idea. And I love the challenge in the last part of this post. Need to be thinking about (and acting on) my next big idea!
