A Widening Circle

I am so blessed to be in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Yesterday, I traveled with Lacy Beach and the team from Cambodian Care to the slum community of Toulpongroo to participate in the first day of school at the Light of Future School. We handed out school supplies and a new pair of flip-flops to each one of the 100 excited students. For most of them, yesterday was the first day of school in their lives.

In the group of 100 were the children who had helped build the school. They were so proud and full of anticipation.

There are still 100 children who have enrolled in the school, but have to wait until Cambodian Care can secure another space to renovate in the community.

Being at the school after spending weeks planning for this mission trip and watching this school come to life via Facebook was surreal. I know that this is just the beginning of something wonderful.

“I live my life in widening circles that reach out across the world. I may never complete the last one, but I give myself to it.” ~ from Rilke’s Book of Hours
