Last weekend, I had the pleasure of staying with my grandchildren while their mom and dad attended a weekend retreat. We had 48 hours filled with fun!  We went to the zoo.  We had a Veggie Tales movie marathon, ate popcorn, and stayed up past our bedtime. We read books written by Dr. Seuss.

Our time was full and the 48 hours passed by too quickly.

As I sat on the airplane, on my way back home, I started thinking about how quickly time seems to move, especially when I am enjoying myself.  For most of my life, I have tried to manage my time.  I’ve read books about and taken classes in time management.  I have used countless day planners and synchronized calendars with family and co-workers.   I have spent days of my life in calendar meetings.  Still, time often feels like its slipping away.  So, on the airplane, I decided to change my focus from managing time to investing time.

Over the next few months, I’m going to observe how I:

• Invest time in building a healthy mind, body, and spirit.
• Invest time in enjoying the present.
• Invest time in people and projects destined to continue into a future I will never see.

By focusing on investing time, I believe I will begin to feel there is enough time to do what is important to me.
